ChatVRTK

The conversational workspace in Virtik: how conversations, research, projects, artifacts and approvals are organised, what it can see, and what it reports when no AI provider is available.

ChatVRTK is the conversational surface for operators. A person asks a question in plain language and gets an answer from an AI model. Its requests are governed by the controls in AI governance.

What it can see

A message is answered from the conversation itself, a short summary of the context the conversation was opened from, the identifiers of the site, incident or camera in focus, and the names and types of any attached files. It does not read the contents of attached files, and it does not look up the organisation's records on its own. The chat does not take actions: it answers.

It needs an AI provider

A conversation works only if an AI provider is available to the organisation: a connection an administrator has made, Virtik's own managed allowance where the plan includes it, or a member's personal key where the organisation's policy allows one. See AI Intel.

When none is available, a send fails and the workspace reports Virtik AI is unavailable, and keeps the message so it can be tried again. The reason underneath is "No AI provider is connected for this organization". A conversation can also report AI budget reached, which appears for a spending limit and also for a rate limit.

The workspace

Along the top are three tabs: ChatVRTK, Comms and Actions. Under ChatVRTK the second row has Chat, Research, Projects, Artifacts and Work Items.

  • Conversations are listed in a navigator, grouped as Recent, Saved and Archived. Controls are New Chat, Save, Refresh, Rename, Archive or Restore, and Delete.
  • Where the controls are. The workspace shows conversations; the box you type in, the operating mode (Auto, Fast, Verified or Critical) and the choice of model family (Auto, Claude, GPT or Gemini) are in the Command Dock.
  • Projects, Artifacts and Work Items hold saved material and tasks that come out of conversations.

Research

The Research tab offers four scopes: Auto, Virtik, Files and Web, and a separate Deep research button that queues a longer task, which then appears on the Tasks board (opened from Research with "View research tasks").

Actions and approvals

The Actions tab lists approval requests as Pending, Approved, Rejected or Expired. It has a status filter, which disappears when the list is empty and the tab says "No pending approvals".

An action in the critical risk class needs an organisation administrator to approve it, and the approval expires after 30 minutes. Approving does not run the action: the person who asked has to try again. The Approve and Reject buttons are shown to everyone in the organisation, and are refused for anyone who is not an administrator. Actions proposed through the Command Dock appear here; the chat itself does not propose them.

Comms

The Comms tab is for writing messages by hand. A draft can be started from an artifact. Drafts are not saved; only what is sent is kept, in Communication.
