This page is the short route through Virtual Sites for someone setting up. For what each tab and control contains, read Virtual Sites.
Before you start
- A site. A Digital Twin always belongs to a site. Create it first: Your first site.
- A role. You need an administrator or editor role to create and edit a twin, and an administrator to approve and publish it.
- Studio access. The Studio depends on the organisation's plan. If it is not included, the Studio says so.
- Source material: 360° images, a floor-plan image, or a capture made with the mobile application.
The order of the work
- 1. Create the twin
- In the Studio, choose New Twin, pick the site and give the twin a name. The name defaults to the site's name followed by "Digital Twin". A site can have only one active Digital Twin.
- 2. Bring in source material
- Start a capture in the Studio, which creates a single-use pairing code (valid for 15 minutes) that is entered on the phone, or import 360° images, a floor plan and other sources.
- 3. Build by hand
- Open the Advanced editor. Add scenes from 360° panoramas, upload a plan, set its scale from one known distance, align it, and place scenes on it. Then press **Link authored 360° tour**: without a ready representation, Publish stays disabled. Automatic reconstruction is not available.
- 4. Place cameras
- Place a camera object on a plan and link it to a camera the site already has. Add cameras first: Cameras and data sources.
- 5. Review
- Submit for review, then resolve quality findings, proposed changes and any AI proposals. Approval is blocked while they are open.
- 6. Approve and publish
- An administrator approves, then publishes. The published version is frozen; a later change becomes a new version.
What you get
After publishing, the twin is the site's operational model. The zone, level and building of a camera appear on Detection's Live wall once the camera is placed on a plan that has a floor and a zone; this does not wait for publishing. Command Center does not show them.
What you do not get yet
A published twin is not made public by this release's interface, and automatic reconstruction is not available. See the limits in Virtual Sites.
