Training & Simulation is where an organisation builds training programs and exercise scenarios, assigns them to people, runs sessions and keeps the resulting certificates. Scenarios are built on the organisation's own sites, so an exercise can be set in a place the team actually operates.
Three views, by role
What a person sees depends on their role and on whether the organisation's plan includes training.
- Management. Administrators and editors, where the plan includes training, can author, assign and schedule.
- Supervision. Supervisors follow progress and can also schedule sessions, run exercises and export.
- Learning. Everyone else sees a learner's view: My Training, Programs and Certificates.
If the organisation's plan does not include training, everyone sees "Training & Simulation is not included in this plan". If the plan lookup fails, Virtik says training access could not be confirmed and offers to try again; it does not fall back to a different view.
A learner with nothing assigned sees "No training assigned yet" on My Training, and "No training programs available yet" under Programs.
The manager's tabs
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Overview | Where training stands across the organisation. |
| Programs | Training programs, built in seven stages: Basics, Scope, Content, Assessment, Assignment, Certification and Review. |
| Scenarios | Exercise scenarios, built in seven stages: Basics, Site Context, Participants, Objectives, Timeline, Decisions and Review. |
| Sessions | Scheduled sessions and their participants. |
| Certifications | Certificates and requirements. |
| Analytics | Training reporting. |
The commands change with the tab and with what the person may do. They include New Program, New Scenario, Assign, Schedule Session, New Requirement (under Certifications), Schedule Exercise and Export, and there are none while a program is being authored.
What the actions do
The actions on these screens write to the organisation's records and report success after they have been saved. A learner can enrol themselves in a program. Publishing or retiring a program or scenario, expanding an assignment to people, moving a session between states and submitting an assessment are each recorded.
Certificates are issued by the system when a program that is set to certify is completed. A program can instead be set to issue no certificate. A person cannot create a certificate by hand.
AI drafting
Authoring can ask an AI provider to suggest content, for example questions drawn from a program's content. The result is a draft: the screen labels it "AI draft — not saved, not applied", and a person decides what to use. After-action reviews can likewise be marked "Drafted with AI". If no AI provider is connected, the draft control reports that instead of inventing text. See AI governance.
